
Year 2006 we planned to have an integrated HR system called Ikram Performance Management System. The system was planned to finally integrate the entire workforce capability and the organization will be able to search for talent by a click of a button. The initial stage was to implement the HR appraisal online for entire Kumpulan Ikram.
However, we took four years to finally have the appraisal online which means if we were to move at the rate we are moving we need another four years to move to the next stage of system development and implementation. This will take a very long time for us to finally have the entire system complete.
The point that I am trying to derive at is…it is very difficult to get people to accept new things and it is even harder to make them change. We often heard the standard cliché i.e. ‘the only constant is change’. Do we really accept change? Do we really change? Can our mindset change? Do our paradigms really shift? Do we really change the way we look at things? Well some people do, some people do not.
When we started our core values programme, most of us wonder why we even need core values. It took a few years for them to understand, finally some do and some still do not. We have been trying to send the message across that we need to survive beyond concession period, we need to change our way of doing things…we need to improve for the better and we need to look at employment in a different perspective. We need to understand that the world is changing; organizations change too, our clients’ demands and expectation change too. We must make ourselves employable and employer must increase the employability of its people by developing them.
We try to make a lot of things easier for everybody with the hope that our people will have work life balance, capability needed to perform better, benefits eventhough not sky high but still better than most companies, flexibility, improved remuneration package and better empowerment. However, all these will be abused and manipulated by those that do not possess the right values. With right values, knowledge, capability and maturity, we can move the world.
So, the question is…this year 2011… will we able to embrace our values and change…fast?…open heartedly?…as we know…the only constant is definitely, undeniable is change.
I have faith that we can do it…hopefully…all of us do.
